Cambridge: B1 Preliminary

The B1 Preliminary and B1 Preliminary for Schools qualifications test all four English skills – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – and show that you’ve built a solid foundation in English with practical skills for everyday situations. Both B1 Preliminary exams test the same skills, but the Schools version has content that’s more engaging for school-age students (11-16).

In your B1 Preliminary course, you will learn to:

• read and understand everyday texts like articles, emails and stories

• write short notes, messages or simple letters clearly

• listen and follow conversations, announcements and instructions in familiar situations

• speak confidently about topics you know and take part in everyday conversations.

In your course, you will also:

• improve your skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking

• learn useful grammar, vocabulary and common expressions

• get to know the test and practise all question types

• learn strategies and tips to help you do your best on test day.
